Last year, I learned German in a matter of months. People felt inspired, but they were also doubtful. "Obviously, this Idahosa guy has a natural gift for languages. But I'm just a normal person. Could I really learn this fast?"
I wish I could tell you that I flunked every Spanish class in high school and college. That my accent was horrendous and my ear was tone-deaf. Then you'd think "If The Mimic Method can work for this guy, then it can work for anyone!"
But I've
always been good at languages, so to convince you that The Mimic Method works, you need to see a normal person succeed with it.
I happen to know the perfect 'normal person' for the job - my friend, business colleague, and polar opposite- Mike...

How to Learn Vietnamese Pronunciation with The Mimic Method
Two weeks ago, I moved to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I will base here for the next three months while I focus on rolling out version 1 of The Mimic Method app.
There are many reason why I chose Ho Chi Minh city as my operation headquarters. Firstly, Ho Chi Minh has a very low cost of living, which means that I can reinvest more of my business profits into the continual development of this app.
Secondly, there is a fair-sized community of software entrepreneurs here, and as I once wrote in this guest post on Mark Manson’s blog, it is important to surround yourself with the people you want to mimic. [Read more…] about How to Learn Vietnamese Pronunciation with The Mimic Method
Everything You Think You Know About English is a LIE!

The Flow of English & the Future of Flow-Training

Trust in Science! The First Brazilian Portuguese Flow Breakdown
After a lot of positive feedback for my first Flow Breakdown video, I have released a second one – “Trust in Science.” This is a breakdown of the Brazilian Portuguese song “Rios, Pontes e Overdrives” by Chico Science and Nação Zumbi.
I take a different approach with this video. Here I focus more on the meaning of the lyrics and their context, leaving the Flow training for this post. Other things I cover are:
- The History of Chico Science and the Mangue-bit (mangue-beat) cultural movement.
- The physiology behind Nasal Vowels
- How to drum one of the key rhythms from the Afro-Brazilian genre of Maracatu
