So when deciding how to proceed, the question to as yourself is:

What is the best method for unblocking my Flow?

There are countless language-learning methods out there. And they seem very different, since some involve textbooks, others classrooms or teachers, and others too different digital technologies.

But when you examine all of these methods up close, you will find that they all follow the same basic approach.

We call this “The Conventional Method” - and it boils down to these four steps:

1. Learn to read & write.
2. Memorize vocabulary with text.
3. Study the formal rules of Grammar
4. Translate sentences with text.

If you dedicate yourself to this conventional method, you may become comfortable working with texts in your target language.

When I first started learning languages, I followed the same conventional approach as everyone else. I was taking Spanish classes in Mexico, and I got good grades in my class.

But I couldn’t understand Mexicans when they spoke naturally, and I couldn’t express myself without stuttering and feeling nervous. 

So one day, I decided to abandon the conventional path, and try something new.
